The sky is no limit: Did you know that NTU Singapore is the birthplace of Singapore-designed satellites?
Meet Singapore's latest space explorer, ELITE (Extremely Low Earth Imaging Technology Explorer). As NTU Singapore’s 14th and most complex satellite to date, it is designed to test cutting-edge innovations, such as an advanced imaging technology from LightHaus Photonics, a high-efficiency electric propulsion system from NTU spin-off Aliena, and a nanotechnology coating that protects spacecraft from atomic oxygen damage. The final test model was showcased to Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during his visit to the NTU Satellite Research Centre, the birthplace of Singapore's satellite and space programmes.
